It makes sense, then, that Takahashi has an ongoing relationship with , the British bootmaker that has shod the feet of underground movements for generations. This October, the designer puts his spin on the 1461, Dr Martens’ classic 3-eyelet shoe. Crafted in England from black patent leather, it sits on a Goodyear-welted sole trimmed with the brand’s iconic yellow stitching and features subtle messages etched into the uppers – swirling font that spells out ‘Chaos’ on one toe and ‘Balance’ on the other, and, at the heel, a debossed phrase – ‘We make noise not clothes’ – that correlates with the punk ethos of both brands.
